I’d like to volunteer at Festival Miami! How do I do that?
As a volunteer, what am I responsible for?
On the nights of ticketed concerts ushers are needed to hand out Festival Miami program books, insert program notes into program books, and other tasks as assigned.
What time do I need to report to the box office for my duties?
Volunteers should arrive at the concert hall one hour before the scheduled concert time.
How long do I need to stay?
Volunteers are needed in their posts until 15 minutes after intermission.
What do I wear?
Ushers should wear a nice white top and black pants.
May I stay to watch the concert after I volunteer?
Unfortunately, Festival Miami does not allow volunteers to watch the concert on the same night they volunteer. However, Festival Miami will offer you a free ticket to a concert night you are not volunteering in.
Am I entitled to free tickets for another concert I’m not volunteering in?
Yes! For your participation and generous donation of your time, you are eligible to receive one (1) complimentary ticket to a concert of your choice (up to a $35 value). Complimentary tickets are not available for sold-out concerts, VIP receptions, Opening/Closing Nights, and the night that you have chosen to volunteer. Festival Miami has the right to deny a ticket request and suggest another concert in its place. Tickets will be given to volunteers after they turn in their badges at the end of their shift. NO EXCEPTIONS.
May I receive community service hours for the time I helped out in Festival Miami?
Yes! Students can receive community service hours for their participation as a volunteer. Depending on the concert they usher, students may receive anywhere from 2 to 4 community service hours per concert. Please be sure to notify a Festival Miami staff member on the night that you volunteer. Students will receive, upon request, a written letter on Festival Miami letterhead verifying participation in this year’s concert season.
