Candidates for the Master of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of Miami Frost School of Music must possess and demonstrate an unquestioned gift of musical leadership based upon broad experience with choral ensembles. Admission requirements include a baccalaureate degree in music, practical experience in choral conducting through church, school, or community ensembles. The mission of the Masters of Music in Choral Conducting at the Frost School of Music is to (1) provide a specifically music performance based education and to train conductors to further develop competitiveness with other conductors in graduate school or the professional field (2) to provide a platform of learning that includes excellence in performance, creativity, scholarship and limited research; and (3) to foster a sense of community involvement of the arts and in the arts.

Goal 1. Establishment of foundational principles of advanced level conducting.

Goal 2. Development of graduate level skills in creativity, research and scholarship.

Goal 3. Using technology to enhance research and performance skills.
