The GREEN your MOVE OUT campaign is back at Housing & Residence Life

Housing & Residence Life and Green U want you to make your Move Out Green:
- Pick a clear bag at your residence front desk for CLEAN and EMPTY recyclables (all paper, cardboard, plastic container, cans…). Leave it in the room along with the black bag for trash.
- Take your big items and electronic waste to the Goodwill container (cabinets, furniture, printers, flat screens, laptop, you name it): Eaton, Hecht Dining, Hecht Tower, Mahoney Pearson, U Village
- Take your canned and packaged food to the Feeding South Florida bins in the Dining Halls.

Last year, the Green move out was a total success, let’s raise the bar this year!
- In 2016, Goodwill collected a total of 67,120 lbs. in donations, 8, 089 lbs. more than in 2015. Feeding South Florida was also able to collect 283 pounds of packaged food, which helped provide nearly 236 meals.
Thanks to the support of community partners like you, we are able to provide these meals to serve the more than 785,000 food insecure individuals in our community.” Feeding South Florida

A big THANK YOU goes to all of our students for giving back to our community and making our operations greener every year!

GREEN MOVE IN has been a success this year!
Thanks to a real team effort, from our new residents, parents, HRL, Facilities and our custodial staff, we were able to Recycle 20 tons of material, offsetting 20% of our total waste from Landfill.
Added to the rest of UM waste diversion efforts like yard waste mulching, copy paper reduction, reused cooking oil, toner recycling and surplus reuse, we reached a total 33% waste diversion rate!
