General Policies
The University of Miami requires all undergraduate students living in its residential colleges during the fall and/or spring semesters to purchase a Meal Plan. Food service in the dining halls begins operation the first day housing is available and continues through the last day of final examinations. The board program does not include a provision for meals during official University vacation periods. The student indicates choice of Meal Plan on the Dining Contract. The student’s signature on the Dining Contract signifies acceptance of that Board Plan for the period indicated. The Meal Plan contract term is for one academic year.  Request for cancellation of the Meal Plan must be submitted in writing to the Department of Auxiliary Services and may result in a penalty.

Please note that all requests for meal plans, changes, and cancellations must be done online via CaneLink or in writing in the Office of Auxiliary Services, Whitten University Center, Room 125 (Our office is located behind the Outtakes convenience store)

Simple and Convenient
There is no cash to carry. Since all transactions are on-line, the Cane Card, the University’s electronic debit card may be used for meal access and to track meal credits and Dining Dollars. Additionally, all locations are on the campus shuttle routes.

Meal Plans Designed For You
A variety of meal plans have been designed to accommodate the needs of all students. Students have the opportunity to eat meals five times a day up to their weekly meal total:

NOTE: Freshmen must choose either the Unlimited Meal Plan-, 19-, 14- Meal Plan. Students living at the residential colleges must choose between the Unlimited Meal Plan-, 19-, 14-, or 8- Meal Plans. Students who fail to choose a meal plan upon enrollment in Housing, will automatically be signed up for the 14 meal plan.

2014-2015 Meal Plan Rates

* Effective July 1, 2014 Meal Plans and Block Meal Plans will be exempt from FL Sales Tax as a direct result of recently passed legislation (House Bill 5601).  Sales tax for Fall 2014 Meal Plan & Block Meal Plans will be reversed.  Meal Plan pricing below has been adjusted to show actual cost.

Unlimited Meal Plan Plus $100 Dining Dollars per Semester
(Semester Cost $2,986.15/Annual Cost $5,972.30)

For those students with a hearty appetite.  Allows for unlimited access to the Resident Dining Halls, and $100 Dining Dollars per semester that can be spent in our retail locations.  Take-out meals are limited to one per meal period. 

Nineteen Meal Plan Plus $50 Dining Dollars per Semester
(Semester Cost $2,585.67/Annual Cost $5,171.34)

The best value. This plan is perfect for students who don’t have the time or the kitchen facility to cook and who enjoy full meals throughout the day. Available seven days a week, this plan offers a total of 19 meals per week and also the flexibility of eating meals outside the dining halls with $50 Dining Dollars per semester.

Fourteen Meal Plan Plus $150 Dining Dollars per Semester
(Semester Cost $2,472.72/Annual Cost $4,945.44)

For students who desire a little more flexibility, this plan offers 14 meals per week, available seven days a week and $150 Dining Dollars per semester.

Eight Meal Plan Plus $200 Dining Dollars per Semester
(Semester Cost $1,790.40/Annual Cost $3,580.80)

Ideal for students who may have busy campus schedules and cannot get back as frequently to the Resident Dining Facilities for meals. Use your $200 Dining Dollars per semester to supplement your eight meals per week. This plan is not available to Freshmen.

Dining Dollars
An exciting feature of the Meal Plan, Dining Dollars provide flexibility and variety to your daily dining. Dining Dollars are limited to $20 per day and are in addition to the standard meals. Dining dollars may be used at any of the locations listed below when you can’t get back to the Resident Dining Facilities or when you just want a change. Dining Dollars may also be used at the Resident Dining Facilities if you have depleted your meals for the week. Dining Dollars may be used at:

      * Sushi Maki
      * Subway
      * Panda Express
      * Tossed (Coming in Spring 2015) garden fresh salads, crepe wraps & sandwiches

Commuter Block Meal Plans 2014-2015

Dining Services continues to enhance options for our students. The Block Meal Plan offers flexibility and better value for non-residents, commuters, and University Village students. Unlike the traditional meal plan where meals are allotted on a weekly basis, the meals are for the fall and spring semesters during the periods when the dining halls are open. Participation is only available to commuters, University Village residents, and/or students who are 25 of older as of September 1st.
