Admission to the University of Miami is selective. UM actively seeks students who demonstrate academic strength, personal integrity, and seriousness of educational purpose.

Academically qualified applicants who are unable to take the TOEFL, or who have scored less than the required minimum, may be offered admission to undergraduate programs with the condition that they successfully complete level five of the University of Miami Intensive English Program or obtain a score of 550 or higher on the Paper-Based TOEFL administered by the Intensive English Program. The University of Miami ETF TOEFL code number is 5815.
Admission into a graduate program is selective and determined by each individual department/program. The Graduate School facilitates the application process and serves as a liaison between you and the program you are applying for.
Please also note that international applicants whose native language is not English may be required to take the TOEFL or IELTS and obtain the score required by their individual department. Some programs may require additional testing such as the GRE or GMAT..
