We recommend the following for international students entering the United States:

2. Inform the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer at the port of entry that you will be a new or returning international student at the University of Miami. The immigration official should stamp "F-1 D/S" on your passport and I-20, and return all your documents to you.
3. Report to the Intensive English Program on the program start date indicated on your acceptance letter.
Most IEP students stay in a hotel for their first few days in Miami until they find a place to live. If you need to travel from Miami International Airport to a hotel or other destination in Miami, we are happy to help you schedule an airport pickup service at the Miami International Airport. We recommend Airport Super Express. The pickup service will cost $60 and is nonrefundable.
A taxi from the airport to the Coral Gables area will cost you around $20-25 dollars. It is common practice in the U.S. to tip taxi drivers about 10% of the bill. There is a taxi stand at the Miami airport. However, the shuttle option is helpful if you want someone to meet you at baggage claim and if you are very nervous about your English ability.
The Intensive English Program can arrange your airport pickup service from the Miami International Airport. The pickup service costs $60; it must be prepaid and is non refundable. If your flight is delayed the pickup service is not guaranteed.
