BGS Admissions Criteria:

1. Graduated from high school at least four (4) years ago
2. Cumulative GPA of 2.2 on all previous college work
3. U.S. citizen or permanent resident
4. Not enrolled in another school or college at the University of Miami

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of General Studies may not transfer into any University of Miami School or College

Step One: Schedule an advising appointment

Schedule an appointment to discuss your existing credits, educational goals, and academic options by calling the BGS program office at 305-284-2727.

Step Two: Complete the BGS application

Complete the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) application including a $50 non-refundable application fee made payable to the University of Miami. Submit complete application and fee to:

Step Three: Request previous transcripts

Request that official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities are sent to the Office of Admission. Official transcripts must come directly from the institution. Students who are attending college for the first time (or who have fewer than 30 college credits) should provide an official high school transcript or copy of GED scores. Please send all transcripts to:

Financial Assistance

If you are applying for financial assistance you should contact the Office of Financial Assistance at (305) 284-5212. Students who wish to apply for financial assistance must first be accepted as a degree-seeking student. If you are interested in utilizing your company's tuition reimbursement benefits contact our Office of Student Account Services at (305) 284-6430.
