October 21, 2014
Dear Colleagues:
With the holidays fast approaching, we wanted to provide some guidance for this year’s holiday schedule, as well as provide the holiday schedule for calendar year 2015. Below are the highlights:
Friday after Thanksgiving
For the Miller School of Medicine, November 28th, the Friday after Thanksgiving, is again officially a work day. However, many clinics experience low volume resulting in a loss of efficiency. Thus, we are encouraging departments and clinics to close operations where urgent patient care needs will not be impacted. Supervisors should work with employees to ensure that critical needs are met. Employees in departments that are closed must utilize accrued vacation and/or floating holiday time to remain in pay status.
The Friday after Thanksgiving is a holiday for Coral Gables and Rosenstiel School campuses.
Year-End Holidays
The last working day before the year-end holiday season begins is Tuesday, December 23, for the Coral Gables and Rosenstiel School campuses and Wednesday, December 24, for the Miller School and UHealth. Please refer to the holiday schedule below.
Departments located on the Coral Gables and Rosenstiel School campuses are encouraged to close operations, where possible, on Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30; employees are required to utilize accrued vacation and/or floating holiday time to remain in pay status.
Year-End Holiday Celebrations
Managers should use discretion in planning departmental and divisional celebrations and be conservative in the use of University resources. For the Miller School of Medicine, planning guidelines and budget allocations will be communicated separately.
Thank you for all you do to make the University a special place. I wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season.
Best regards,
Joe Natoli
Senior Vice President for Business and Finance
and Chief Financial Officer
Interim COO Miller School of Medicine and UHealth
