UM Mourns Death of Joyce Galya, A.B. '73, M.B.A. '84

Joyce Galya The University of Miami community is deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend, and long-time colleague, Joyce Galya, who passed away on Saturday, October 4. There will be a memorial service for Joyce, Friday, October 10th at 3:00 p.m. at the School of Business Storer Auditorium. Valet parking will be available. The service is expected to end by 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the "University of Miami School of Education" and reference the Jewish Education Program. Please mail checks to Marsha Talianoff, School of Education, 5202 University Drive, Coral Gables, FL 33146.


Big Boys Can Dance

Warren Sapp Join the UMAA in cheering on former Hurricane Football defensive end Warren Sapp. The 'Canes first winner of the Lombardi Award is now dancing his way into living rooms nationwide. Cheer on as Warren Sapp shows the world that he has learned more dance moves since those Quarterback Sack free style dances on the football field.

UM Law Class of 2008 Achieves Highest First-Time Florida Bar Pass Rate

Florida Board of Bar Examiners University of Miami law graduates taking the July 2008 Florida Bar Examination achieved the highest pass rate of all Florida law schools, with a 92.4% pass rate among first-time test-takers. The pass rate for all Florida first- time test-takers was 82.5%.   more...

These efforts are just the beginning of a global approach to alumni outreach. Your UM Alumni Association will continue to expand its international efforts during the 2008-2009 academic year, including global stops in Japan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and other Gulf countries, as well as a return trip to South America.   more...
