Faculty

Academic Reputation
In 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked UM No. 44 in its "Best Colleges" listings, the fourth year in a row it has been among the top 50, and it continues to be the highest ranked school in Florida. The teaching hospital at our Miller School of Medicine is lauded as one of the top 20 in the nation and our School of Law boasts one of the country's top programs in international law.

'Cane Success Center
The 'Cane Success Center assists students to ensure that UM is meeting all their expectations. Their goal is to support students with: getting the help they need to address any difficulties/challenges within the university, ensuring that they progress in their studies and achieve their goal of graduation. The 'Cane Success Center acts as a safety net to students, working with them individually to resolve any issues that could interfere with their success here at the "U". The personal attention starts early with the 'Cane Success Center's Freshman Phone Campaign at which time each and every first-year student receives a phone call to ensure that he or she is happily settled and adjusting to life at the University.

Toppel Career Center
The Toppel Career Center provides services for students regarding graduate school, career development, career assessment, workshops on interviewing and writing a resume, and much more. The Center maintains current career information and is open to all degree-seeking UM students as well as UM alumni within one year of graduation.

The Butler Center
Originally established on campus in 1989, the Butler Center for Service and Leadership offers a wide range of volunteer and advocacy-based service opportunities for UM students, staff and local community members. In addition, the Center works toward developing the leadership potential of students in all academic disciplines as well as raising the overall standard of student leadership at UM.

Housing
Living on campus is a wonderful opportunity for students to take advantage of all that the University has to offer. It's a chance to live and interact with culturally diverse students as well as receive support and enhance learning opportunities through live-in faculty and student affairs staff. While the University has five residential colleges and the University Village, all non-local freshmen students are required to live in University housing (primarily in Stanford or Hecht Residential College) for two academic semesters.
