| Scholarships are available to full-time students entering their junior year in the fall of 2001. Applicants must have successfully completed two years of study by August 2001 at an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates must be United States citizens or hold permanent resident status. There are two categories of students are eligible: 1) Students who are enrolled or who are planning to enroll in a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. 2) Students who are enrolled in a program leading to a bachelor's degree in science or engineering who have demonstrated a clear intent to pursue a career in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences following completion of appropriate specialized education at the graduate level. | 80 fellowships will be awarded by the Howard Huges Medical Institute for full-time study towards a Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree in the biological sciences.
