American Water Resources Association, Florida Section Scholarship
The selection criteria for an undergraduate will be for the most qualified by academic performance. Measures of academic performance include the cumulative grade point average, relevance of the student’s curriculum to water resources and leadership in extracurricular activities related to water resources. The criteria for a graduate student will be for the most qualified by academic and/or research performance. The measures of academic performance will be identical to those described for the undergraduate criteria with the addition of the quality of the student’s research and its relevance to water resources.

Broward Shell Club Scholarship
Provides scholarship funds to undergraduate or graduate students in the field of marine biology at local colleges or universities. The applicants coursework should include some aspect of malacology (taxonomy, habitat studies, pollution effects, DNA analysis, etc...) and they will be requested to make a presentation to the club about their reseach and how the award assited them in their goals.

Chick-fil-A Bowl Scholarship
This award is given to students from the National Football Foundation's Play It Smart Program in Atlanta, GA. Chick-fil-A Bowl Scholarship/Play It Smart recipients will receive the renewable award up to a total of four years or until they graduate as long as funding remains available and the student remains in good standing at the University of Miami. Should no Play It Smart Students be identified, then all graduates from Georgia High Schools will be considered for a non-renewable annual award with preference given to those from Metropolitan Atlanta High Schools.

    The Coca-Cola Foundation will grant 50 national scholarships and 200 regional scholarships.     Critical Teacher Shortage (CTS) Forgivable Loan Program
    Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduate study or 9 credit hours for graduate study for each academic term in which an award is received. Applicant must not have participated, nor may they currently or in the future participate, in any of the following programs: Critical Teacher Shortage Loan Forgiveness, Critical Teacher Shortage Scholarship Loan, Masters' Fellowship Loan for Teachers, 'Chappie' James Most Promising Teacher Scholarship Loan, or the Paul Douglas Teacher Scholarship. Applicant must not owe a repayment under any state or federal grant or scholarship program, must not be in default on any federal Title IV or state loan program unless satisfactory arrangements to repay have been made. Applicant must be recommended for acceptance or currently enrolled in a state-approved teacher education program leading to a certification in a critical teacher shortage subject area. An initial applicant must declare an intention to teach in Florida public elementary or secondary schools for the number of years the loan is received. For an initial undergraduate loan, a participant must be an upper division student, have scored at the 40th percentile or better on the SAT or ACT, and have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate work. For an initial graduate loan, a participant must have received a bachelor's degree from any college or university accredited by one of the six regional accrediting associations specified by the Florida Department of Education, have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate work or scored at least 1,000 on the GRE, not have received a bachelor's degree in education in a critical teacher shortage subject area, not hold a teaching certificate in a critical teacher shortage subject area, and not have received an undergraduate loan through this program.

    Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
    The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to students actively working for peace and justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to those able to do academic work at the university level and who are part of the progressive movement on the campus and in the community. Applicants must have participated in activities in the US, and there is a strong preference for applicants who plan on working in this country. Apart from that, applicants must be enrolled at an institution of higher education and mail in the application (see below). A complete application packet includes this form, prior transcripts, a personal statement, two letters of recommendation and the Student Aid Report (received after completing the 2013-14 FAFSA).

    The Health Council of South Florida (HCSF) established an Annual Scholarship Award in 2009 to address the healthcare shortage in our community. A portion of the proceeds from the HCSF Annual Meeting will help raise funds to enable the HCSF to carry on its mission in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties and contribute to the Scholarship Fund.     Hughes Exterminators Scholarship Contest
    Hughes Exterminators is happy to announce our first Scholarship Contest. To assist in attaining your college or university goals, we are awarding a $1,000 scholarship to one qualifying student who submits the most well-reasoned and thought-provoking essay. The essay must be 200-400 word on the subject - "If You Were an Insect, What Insect Would You Be and Why?" Essay must be submitted in English and only one Entry per student. Essays will be judged by a panel of Hughes Exterminators staff members.     Humane Studies Fellowships
    IHS considers applications from individuals who will be full-time graduate students or undergraduate juniors or seniors during the 2012-13 academic year and who have a clearly demonstrated research interest in the intellectual and institutional foundations of a free society.

  • Fellowships are awarded for one year, and award winners may reapply for each year of their full-time studies.
  • Fellowships take into account the tuition at the recipient's institution and any other funds received by the recipient.
  • Full scholarships will not be awarded to students who will receive full-tuition scholarships or stipends from other sources, although partial awards will be considered.
  • Award decisions by IHS and its trustees are final and not subject to appeal.
