A benefit of applying Early Decision is that we can provide you with an estimated financial aid award in December of 2013. If you wish to receive an estimated financial aid award, you must complete the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by November 1, 2013. The FAFSA can be completed online at www.fafsa.gov.

Please follow these steps:

Step #1:  You and your parent(s) must go to www.pin.ed.gov and request separate PIN numbers. You may receive your PIN instantly online or sent to you in an e-mail.  This PIN is conditional until your information is verified with the Social Security Administration.  You may sign your 2013-2014 FAFSA with it, but nothing else.  Once verified, you will be able to use your PIN for other purposes.

Step #2:  Go to the FAFSA on the Web homepage at www.fafsa.gov and select the "Start Here” button. Follow the instructions on the website while answering each question. Please make sure to complete the 2013-2014 application.

Step #3: List the school code for the University of Miami, which is 001536-00. Be careful: listing an incorrect school code may delay the application process.

Once we receive your 2013-2014 FAFSA and you are admitted to the university, we will send you an Early Estimated Financial Aid Award. After receiving your early estimate award you will still be required to complete the 2013-2014 FAFSA, which will be available on January 1st, 2014, and must be completed by February 1, 2014. We will not be able to provide you with an official financial aid award until you complete a FAFSA for the 2013-2014 academic year.
