One of the benefits of applying Early Decision I or II is that you receive your estimated financial aid award early — late December for ED I applicants, and mid-February for ED II applicants. To be considered for Institutional need-based aid, you must submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (PROFILE) by the priority date of November 1 (ED I) or January 1 (ED II). The PROFILE is available online beginning October 1. For those with parents or guardians who do not live in the same household, UM also requires the Noncustodial PROFILE. For more information and FAQs, visit the NCP Help desk.

Once we receive your CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE and you are admitted to the University, we will send you an Early Estimated Financial Aid Award. This award is only an estimate.

Note: Only U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents should complete these financial aid applications. Foreign applicants are not eligible for need-based financial aid.

Completing the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE
Follow the steps below to complete the PROFILE. The student guide provides an overview of the basic information needed to complete your PROFILE application.

Step #1. Register: The PROFILE application is tailored to your family situation, based on your answers and selections. After registering, you can securely save your application and return to complete it at any time.

Step #2. Complete the Application:  Use the customized Pre-Application Worksheet and Application Instructions at the end of the registration process to complete the PROFILE.

Step #3. Submit the Application: The date and time you submit your completed application will be recorded based on Eastern time. After payment, you will receive a PROFILE acknowledgment for your records. The acknowledgment will provide any further steps required to complete your financial aid application. We recommend printing a copy for your records.

Step #4. Submit signed copies of prior year (2014) federal tax returns, including all schedules and
employer W-2(s):
Submit via mail, fax, or email to the Office of Student Financial Assistance and Employment.

Once your PROFILE application and tax returns are received, and if you are admitted, you will receive an early estimated financial aid award if you qualify.

Costs: The fee for the initial application and one college or program report is $25. For an additional fee, you may add a college or program by going to the PROFILE home page and clicking "Add Colleges to Submitted Application."
