Brazil in Transition - Rio de Janeiro

This course examines the contemporary Brazilian society and politics and the dynamics of Brazil's insertion in the rapidly globalizing world economy. Students will spend two weeks in Rio de Janeiro and one week in Salvadorde Bahia. This course may be of interest to students in a variety of majors in the Social Sciences, Humanities, Communications and Business.

Academic Offerings:INS 586. Topics include social movements, human rights, social and economic reforms and efforts to deepen democratic politics. Registration for this program is subject to the professor’s approval.

Lodging: Students will travel in a group and share rooms in comfortable hotels. The program is limited to 15 participants.

Program Costs: $4,050 (estimated) for 3 credits undergraduate tuition. Students will also pay a travel package of $1,500 (estimated) for some meals, lodging, entrance fees, guides and local transportation. Students should also budget about $950 for international airfare.
