Lights! Camera! Action! Develop screenwriting, production, directing, and editing skills in Miami, one of the three top centers in America for motion pictures, commercials, and TV shows. Discover what makes the famous movie makers like Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, and Spike Lee successful in this cut-throat industry.
Study a renowned film produced for the silver screen by one of University of Miami's own faculty. Learn how movies captivated their audiences through the decades and develop a better understanding of the cultural mythology that is film.
You'll write a screenplay, learn how to use a professional camera, hone your skills as a director, be an actor, create the mood with lighting and music, use professional editing software, and have bragging rights as the producer!
You’ll be guided through this process of making your own 3-5 minute 16mm film by professors and staff who are respected film producers and critics.
Possible Field Trips: This program is labor intensive before and after class; field trips are restricted to sponsored weekend activities.
