Here is information regarding product and/or safety recalls that may be pertinent to the University community:

Dell Battery Recall Program - October 2000
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Dell is voluntarily recalling certain batteries that were sold for use with some models of Latitude and Inspiron notebook computers. These batteries can short circuit, even when the battery is not in use, potentially causing them to become very hot, release smoke and possibly catch fire.

IBM AC Adapter Recall - August 2000
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, IBM is voluntarily recalling AC Adapters that were supplied with certain IBM mobile devices. Some of these AC Adapters have exhibited signs of overheating, and may pose a fire hazard.
