UM Graduate Students host third annual charity golf tournament in Palmetto Bay
Coral Gables, Fla. — March 1, 2008 – More than 30 University of Miami Sport Administration graduate students are hosting their 3rd annual S.P.O.R.T. Golf Classic presented by Metta Financial on Friday, April 25. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will benefit The Florida Marlins Community Foundation whose purpose is to promote educational, athletic, health, social and community service programs in the South Florida youth.
The University of Miami Sport Administration graduate program first hosted the golf tournament three years ago to benefit community charities while learning how to manage an event start to finish. Last year the tournament hosted more than 60 participants with proceeds benefiting the Randy McMichael Foundation.
“This event is a fun opportunity for golfers to unwind and enjoy a relaxing day at the links while donating to a great cause,” says Jeremy Jordan, program director. “In addition, our students get to learn a great deal about planning and managing events by participating in this valuable hands-on experience.”
The tournament will be held at the Palmetto Golf Course at 9300 SW 152nd St., Miami, Fla. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. and is followed by a silent auction. Individual tickets are $65, $240 for foursomes and $280 for a foursome and a tee-box. Tickets can be purchased by calling Jessica Lortie at 954-558-7202.
