Ph.D. Student/Teaching Assistant
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of Miami has one open PhD-student Teaching Assistant position in the field of energy sciences. The candidate should have received or is expecting to receive his/her master?s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. This teaching assistantship will cover tuition and stipend in a period of 3 years starting in the fall semester of 2008.

Faculty Openings at All Professorial Levels
The College of Engineering at the University of Miami invites applications and nominations for a number of tenure-track positions at all professorial levels. The College is seeking candidates with a strong record of scholarship with a focus on obtaining external funding, a demonstrated excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching, interest in developing and implementing curricula that address multicultural issues, and a thoughtful commitment to university and professional service. For senior-level appointments, a proven record of extramural funding support is required. The College includes five academic departments, 750 undergraduates, 250 graduate students, and 80 dedicated faculty, who have garnered national and international awards including election to the National Academy of Engineering. Applications are invited in the following areas of research and education: (1) Biomedical (bioelectrical/biomechanical devices and systems, cell/tissue engineering, biomaterials); (2) Civil, Architectural and Environmental (structures, materials, sustainable construction, water, waste); (3) Electrical and Computer (multimedia, sensors, imaging, computing, signal processing, power electronics, photonics); (4) Mechanical and Aerospace (finite element, energy, fuel cells, bio-heat transfer, fluid dynamics, tissue mechanics, space structures, composites); (5) Industrial and Systems (supply chain, automation and control, human factors, health care, quality management, service systems, risk and decisions).
Collaboration is a hallmark of the faculty?s activities, including joint research with colleagues in the School of Medicine, the School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, the School of Architecture, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Music, the School of Communication, the School of Education, the School of Law and the School of Nursing.
