Inherent to international travel and extended stays in other countries is the constant possibility of changing circumstances.  Circumstances may change as a result of changing conditions in the United States, the host country and/or the host institution.  As a result, UM reserves the right to change the program’s requirements, itinerary, accommodations, activities, and educational and non-educational programs offered.  UM further reserves the right to make any changes to the program to ensure the safety of the program’s participants and staff.  In the event of any changes, no reimbursements will be offered.

Faculty-Led Courses Abroad and Honors Credit

Honors students going on faculty-led courses can designate a regular class as an honors course by doing additional work and going through the 'pink sheeting' process. You would arrange this with the faculty member.  Here is the info about pink sheeting taken from the UM website:

Pink Sheeting:

Some regular courses can be approved for Honors credit. Approval of such courses requires the consent of the professor teaching the course, and the completion of clearly specified, additional work. Forms to request approval for non-Honors courses for Honors credit (commonly called "pink sheets") may be obtained from the Honors Program Office or by printing the form below. The most important aspects of the pink sheeting policy are:

1. Students may pink sheet only after taking 3 regular Honors courses-9 Honors credits (or if they are simultaneously enrolled in the third regular course).

2. No course at the 100 or 200 level may be pink sheeted.

3. Courses at the 300 and 400 levels may be pink sheeted only if clearly specified, additional work is listed on the form with the professor's signature and approved by the Director of Honors.

4. Courses at the 500 level count for Honor's credit without the necessity of submitting a pink sheet for the course.

5. Pink sheets must be turned in no later than the end of the third week of classes for the fall and spring semesters and the second week of classes for the summer semesters.  Retroactive pink sheets are not permitted.

6. No more than 6 of the 24 required honors credits may be earned through pink sheets. There are no exceptions to this rule.

7. Please see the requirement brochure that is mailed every fall semester.
