The state-of-the-art-facility, to be known as the M. Christine Schwartz Center for Nursing and Health Studies, will enable the school’s growing faculty of renowned nurse educators and researchers to prepare hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students each year for the challenges of contemporary health care.
This four-story, 53,000-square foot building will feature classrooms wired for web-based and distance learning, clinical practice labs equipped with the latest technology for patient simulations, seminar and conference rooms, and a computer laboratory. Entire wings of the Schwartz Center will be devoted to innovations in teaching and learning and cutting-edge nursing research.
In keeping with the University of Miami’s tradition of academic excellence and collaborative partnership, nurse researchers and educators at the Schwartz Center will collaborate on projects with colleagues at the School of Medicine, other schools on the Coral Gables campus, and community partners.
With a critical shortage of nurses in South Florida and across the nation, quality nursing programs and facilities providing a quality learning environment for nursing students are vital.
