Increase Your Visibility

The Toppel Career Center can help your organization increase its visibility on the University of Miami campus, while at the same time providing support to our programs and services. We encourage employers to take advantage of the many opportunities listed below.

> Information Sessions

To supplement your on-campus interviewing, we encourage you to host an information session. This is a great way for students to learn more about your company while you have the opportunity to preview students in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

These sessions are a critical part of our students' career research process, in that they address career options, internships, and job trends. The Toppel Career Center has access to a variety of facilities to make your information session a success.

Infosessions are scheduled either for 12 Noon, 3 pm or 4 pm. If you are interested in hosting a corporate information session, we will help you coordinate all the details.

> Name Recognition

Become a Toppel Partner and take advantage of our name recognition opportunities, many via this website. Options include Employer Profiles, Featured Employer Link, Interview Suite Sponsorship, and "Employer of the Year" award.

Employer Profile: Provides direct access for UM students to your employer profile in a special section of Toppel's web site. Information is specifically targeted to UM students and includes a link to the career section of your web site.

Featured Employer Link: Promote your organization's opportunities with a link on the main page of the Toppel Career Center web site. Link directly to an Employer Profile (recommended) or to your organization's website.

Sponsor an Interview Suite (or other room): There are only a limited number of interview suites available each year. Your organization may also sponsor our Career Library, Career Computer Lab, or Toppel Conference Room.

"Employer of the Year": Annually, an employer will be selected the Toppel Career Center "Employer of the Year". This honor will be based on a number of factors, including the length of time a partnership has existed with Toppel and the number of different ways the employer has participated in Career programs. The "Employer of the Year" will receive the following benefits:

  • A complimentary booth at one Career Expo
  • The right to display the "Employer of the Year" banner
  • Special recognition on the Toppel Career Center website

> Newspaper Advertising

The student newspaper, The Miami Hurricane is published every Tuesday and Friday throughout the school year. You may want to announce your on-campus visit or information session, or simply place an ad soliciting resumes. For specific information on advertising costs, call the Advertising Manager at 305-284-4401.

Career Development Series
Each semester, the Toppel Career Center presents a special series of programs, which focus on students’ career interests. These programs are designed to assist students in acquiring lifelong career skills and in learning about specific professional fields. Samples of previous programs include: Negotiating Your Salary, Dress for Success, Employment Strategies for International Students, Maximizing Your Career Expo Experience, and Power-Networking.

Company representatives are invited to participate in the Career Development Series and share their expertise on job search skills and career opportunities. These programs have proven to be successful in helping students and alumni discover how their degree from the University of Miami can assist them in securing full-time professional employment.

Employer Resume Critiques
Lend your expertise to our students! Resume critiques by recruiters are extremely popular with our students because they want to hear straight from the experts what should be included and helpful tips. Prior to each Career Expo, we host a Mass Resume Critique where students sign up to meet with a recruiter and have their resume evaluated. This program is beneficial to our students and helps you maintain your company presence on campus.

To participate in any of these programs or to discuss other ways in which your organization can be more involved on campus, please call Christian Garcia at 305-284-1815.
