UM's Institute of Cuban and Cuban-American Studies Film Festival to Highlight the Cuban and Cuban-American Experience
CORAL GABLES, FL (April 23, 2008) – The Casa Bacardi, at the University of Miami’s Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies (ICCAS), will capture the unique events of Cuban and Cuban-American individuals through filmmaking in its second film festival.
The festival will kick off on Monday, May 5 and will run through Friday, May 9, with a film showing nightly at 7:00 p.m. at 1531 Brescia Avenue in the Coral Gables campus.
The festival’s mission is to promote the inherent creativity of those willing to share their works and to recognize the accomplishments and difficulties of those living in or influence by the Cuban Diaspora.
The featured presentations at the Festival include: Fidel Castro: ¿Lo Absolverá la Historia?, directed by Eduardo Palmer (May 5), Freedom Flight, directed by Frank Quetglas (May 6), Beyond Borders, directed by Brian Ging (May 7), Dream Havana, directed by Gary Marks (May 8), and Alamar Express: El Hombre Nuevo, directed by Patrycja Satora (May 9).

ABOUT CASA BACARDI
The Casa Bacardi, at the Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies, University of Miami, is an interactive center highlighting Cuban history and culture. The Center features: a music pavilion, a products pavilion, the Cuban Information Center, a cinema, a conference room, and exhibits. It is a unique place to appreciate and learn about Cuba's past as well as its present.
