- Hostile Intruder Training Video: This training video is no longer available. It was previously available from March 1, 2008 through May 31, 2008 as part of a pilot assessment program. Based on community feedback, UMPD will make the determination as to whether a full-scale contract should be signed with The Center for Personal Protection & Safety to make the training video a continuously available program. If you watched this video during the pilot phase, please tell UMPD what you thought: Fill out the feedback form by clicking here. Have you ever thought about how you would react if a hostile intruder were to enter your classroom or office? Although the potential for such an event at the University of Miami has been mitigated through a multitude of proactive preventative security measures, no University in the country is 100% secure. The above link will take you to a 20 minute hostile intruder training video that will give you a wealth of information and options to consider should the unthinkable happen. The training video, titled “Shots Fired: When Lightening Strikes,” was prepared by The Center for Personal Protection & Safety, a non-University affiliated vendor. Thanks to a partnership with the University of Miami Information Technology Department, UMPD is able to provide this training video to our community via the web.
