Michael R. Halleran, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, oversees 20 departments and 11 interdisciplinary programs in the University’s largest college or school. It has over 4,000 undergraduate students, 600 graduate students and nearly 400 faculty, in areas as diverse as art and art history, marine science, English, and psychology. Prior to joining the University in 2005, Halleran was a member of the University of Washington faculty from 1983 to 2005, where he served as chair of the Department of Classics and divisional dean of arts and humanities. Halleran earned his bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University, all in classics. His primary area of scholarship is ancient Greek drama, and he has published widely on Greek literature and culture. |
