The
Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.) has two parts: (1)
a prevention and education component, and (2) the hotline or counseling
component. Both parts rely heavily on volunteers.
The prevention and education team accepts undergraduate
volunteers, graduate students, staff and faculty. This team conducts
programs to educate the University community about the issue of acquaintance/date
rape. It is directed by the UM Police crime prevention officer.
To volunteer, please call UM Police at (305) 284-6666 or contact Ken Lucas, Crime Prevention
Coordinator, at (305) 284-1105.
The hotline or response team accepts graduate students,
faculty and staff volunteers. There are volunteers on call 24 hours
a day to assist rape victims, answer questions and to advise callers
about University and community resources. The response team is under
the supervision of the Counseling
Center. Call (305) 284-5511 and ask for Dr. Carolyn Eberhardt
to volunteer. You may also contact Dr. Eberhardt by e-mail at ceberhardt@miami.edu.
The S.A.R.T. program
also needs help with ongoing publicity and marketing of the program.
If you would like to help us stay visible on campus and in the University
community, you may call either the Counseling
Center at (305)284-5511 or Public
Safety at (305) 284-6666. We are open to innovative ideas. |
